intro |
Olive text indicates a specimen that has not been
thoroughly examined (for example, for microscopic details) and marks other places in the text
where data is missing or uncertain. The following material is based on the collectors' annotations of the fresh material and original research of R. E. Tulloss.
pileus | 50 - 70 mm wide, brownish red (6C6) over disc, bright yellow (3A5) over outer parts of marginal striations, planar, moist and tacky, not viscid; context white with yellow tints, unchanging, 8 mm thick over stipe; margin sulcate-striate; universal veil absent.
lamellae | adnate, crowded, color??, with fimbriate yellow edge; lamellulae truncate.
stipe | 90 - 130 × 8 - 10 mm, lemon yellow at apex, otherwise white with lemon yellow floccose zones, subcylindric; context yellow, hollow; partial veil apical, membranous, flaring, soon appressed to stipe, soon brownish orange; universal veil as saccate volva, white, membranous.
odor/taste | Odor mild. Taste not recorded.
macrochemical tests |
none recorded. | ||||||||||||||||
pileipellis | 55 - 80 μm thick; with gelatinized suprapellis 20 - 35 μm thick, with largely ungelatinized subpellis orangish yellow and 30 - 50 μm thick; filamentous hyphae ?? μm wide, ??; refractive hyphae sordid yellow, 1.4 - 3.9 &mum; thick in scattered fragments.
pileus context | filamentous hyphae ??; acrophysalides ??; vascular hyphae 1.9 - 7.4 μm wide, sordid yellow, roughly evenly distributed.
basidiospores | [40/2/1] (8.5-) 8.7 - 11.2 (-12.1) × (5.9-) 6.0 - 7.4 (-8.2) μm, (L = 9.3 - 10.1 μm; L' = 9.7 μm; W = 6.5 - 6.8 μm; W' = 6.7 μm; Q = (1.31-) 1.34 - 1.67 (-1.83); Q = 1.44 - 1.49; Q' = 1.46), hyaline, predominantly colorless, some faintly yellow, smooth, thin-walled, mono- or multiguttulate, ellipsoid or elongate, usually adaxially flattened; apiculus sublateral, cylindric.
ecology | A pair. Associated with Allocasuarinus littoralis and Eucalyptus intermedia.

Each spore data set is intended to comprise a set of measurements from a single specimen made by a single observer; and explanations prepared for this site talk about specimen-observer pairs associated with each data set. Combining more data into a single data set is non-optimal because it obscures observer differences (which may be valuable for instructional purposes, for example) and may obscure instances in which a single collection inadvertently contains a mixture of taxa.
